​- January 31: Fr. Edwin Gonsalves - “SILENCE DURING OUR LITURGIES: ARE WE LISTENING?” Fr. Gonsalves studied at St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto and was ordained to the priesthood in May 1999. After six years of pastoral service, he was made Director of the Office of Catholic Youth (2005-2008). For the last four years as Pastor of St. Barnabas Church in Scarborough, Fr. Gonsalves continues to “enjoy his ministry as a priest.”

- February 23 - Retreat Day  LECTIO and VISIO DIVINA with Bro. Ignatius Feaver, OFM Cap

Brother Ignatius,  a trained spiritual director and a member of the Capuchin Order for fifty years, has conducted numerous retreats and workshops in Franciscan Spirituality.  He studied studio art at the Toronto School of Art and maintains his own studio.  His current interest is in the visual arts as an entrance into contemplative prayer.  In the lectio, he will focus on Jesus washing the feet, and for the visio, he will focus on the cross.

 

​- February 28: Laury Silvers - “ISLAMIC MEDITATION ON THE NAME: ALLAH”. Laury Silvers is a Faculty Instructor in the Department for the Study of Religion at the ​University of Toronto. She is also Co-Chair of the American Academy of Religion’s Islamic Mysticism Group. Her work deals with Islam in the Formative Period, in particular Sufism, Sufi Metaphysics, and Gender and Progressive Islam in North America.​

- March 28: Tom LaFrance - “THE IMPACT OF PLACE ON MEDITATION”. Tom is presently working as a Registered Massage Therapist in Brampton after a career as a high school teacher and in social services. He has been a member of WCCM-Toronto for many years and leads a weekly Christian meditation group in Brampton.

- April 25: Anne Tanner - “WALKING PRAYER: THE LABYRINTH AS A PATH OF MEDITATION”. Anne was in her early 20’s when her godmother introduced her to the Fellowship of Meditation (founded in England by Marian Dunlop in 1932). After she came to Canada in 1953, Anne continued to receive the Fellowship’s monthly notes on contemplative practice and used them with parish prayer groups. Later she became involved with the introduction of walking prayer in indoor and outdoor labyrinths in churches and other buildings, and she is a founding member of the Toronto Labyrinth Community Network. Anne has a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Ecumenical Theological Seminary, then in Detroit, in 1987.

- May 30: Rev. Schuyler Brown - “The JESUS of HISTORY and the CHRIST of FAITH in PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE”. Christianity, like most other religions, includes belief and practice. Meditation is a practice. The affirmation that Jesus is the Christ is a belief.  Fr. Brown is professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto and Chair of the Jung and Spirituality group. He is priest in charge of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Toronto. He s a member of WCCM - Toronto.

- * June 20: Clem Sauvé - “DISCIPLESHIP”. Clem has been a mainstay of WCCM (locally, nationally and internationally) for longer than any of us can remember. He recently ended two terms of service as Chair of the worldwide WCCM Guiding Board, from 2008 until March 2012, and he is currently Chair of the WCCM Board of Trustees.

Clem is going on the WCCM’s 2013 “Way of Peace” tour to India which will include a day of dialogue on “Discipleship” led by the Dalai Lama and Fr. Laurence. Clem will talk to us in June in the context of this event with his own thoughts on what modern discipleship is about.

The evening will end with our annual Satsang – a brief business meeting in which we look together to the future of the WCCM-Toronto community.
